Beat The Heat At Daytona Lagoon's WaterPark
Daytona is located on 601 Earl St. on the beachside of Daytona Beach. If you wanted to head to the ocean after the waterpark If you're up for that challenge) you could walk there no problem. There is a parking garage located next to the waterpark or you also have street parking. The parking prices are pretty reasonable we were at the park for about five to six hours and paid 10$ in parking. It was a no-fuss, easy, and convenient parking garage to get in and out of.
We spent a good amount of time in Daytona Lagoon and we still were not able to do it all. As I mentioned before I haven't been to this waterpark since I was a child and was thoroughly impressed with it all. They have something for everyone and all ages. Let's start with inside: They have a Mega Arcade, Sky Maze, Laser Tag, A rock Wall, and a mini roller coaster if you will that brings the thrill. With all these activities inside you would be reluctant to go outside! However, outside is where the magic is so many things to choose from and endless hours of fun--from single/double Go-Karts, miniature golf and all the water slides and attractions there isn't a reason to be bored in the house when you can beat the heat at Daytona Lagoon. My daughters and I took a few rides down the Pelicans Drift lazy river, sat in the Treasure Lagoon wave pool, and got drenched by the buckets in the Castaway kid-friendly water oasis area. My oldest even braved her very first water slide on Poseidon's Pass--- a multiple semi-enclosed water slide that has twist and turns to the end and slides you out into a pool of water.
With all those activities Daytona Lagoon has the dining to match! The waterpark offers four dining choices and has cabana options as well if you want to go that route. If you choose to eat inside they have Paradise Grill while outside they have Wave Grill both dining options serving up delicious combos of sandwiches, dressed burgers, chicken tenders, quesadillas, and giant pizza slices--all foods you can't go wrong with on a fun-filled day. Outside Daytona Lagoon doesn't forget the adults that like a nice cold drink to go with Florida weather because they have Goonie Cove- a full bar to get all your fun adult mixed drinks and cold beers. Last, but not least there is Castaway Outpost-- a place to stop to get those ice cream novelties, and snacks for the little ones (you know the ones that you bribe them with later if they listen)! The day was long and even hot but the Waterpark was keeping us cool as we played until mommy couldn't play anymore. If you want a fun place to go this summer I recommend Daytona Lagoon we had a blast and the naps were long.
Precautions For COVID
While I didn't want to bring this topic up on the first paragraph since it dampens the mood (Thanks 2020) it definitely needs to be addressed. It's not easy for businesses in general right now in the current climate to stay open and taking extra precautions to keep the people safe can also be a costly task as well. Going to a Waterpark might not be on people's minds in the middle of a pandemic (It's ok we all have a different comfort level to all of this) but I can say Daytona Lagoon definitely puts my mind at ease with all their rules in place. Mask are required when entering and while you are inside the facility, outside they may be removed but practicing six feet apart they also take an extra step and take a temp check before you enter Daytona Lagoon.
Hand sanitizer dispensers were placed all around and even disposable disinfecting wipes were available to use on the arcade games before and after each use. All employees were wearing masks minus the lifeguards outside and even with minimal people in the waterpark the day we went (the day after a hurricane was supposed to hit- Florida life!) everyone was being respectful of spacing on the seating that was outside.
Daytona Lagoon gave us a cabana for the day and if you really want to social distance at a water park that's the way to go. I would say going up and down the stairs is a nuisance to enjoy the water activities if you have younger ones since the majority of their cabanas are placed over-looking the park- so nice! However, they have different Cabana options for you and your family that fit best. Summer is still going on, things just have to be different but the fun doesn't have to stop.
